County Officials Re-Elected as Officers of the Wisconsin County Mutual Insurance Corporation

The Wisconsin County Mutual Insurance Corporation (County Mutual) elected its officers recently to head-up the general liability insurance company for the next three years.

Oconto County Board Chairman Leland Rymer was elected president of the County Mutual, with Forest County Board Chairman Erhard Huettl being elected as vice president and Calumet County Board Chair Bill Barribeau as secretary-treasurer.  The term of office is for three years.

“Under the leadership of these three outstanding individuals, I am confident they will continue to guide this board, working closely with member counties to help control their insurance costs, always keeping in mind saving taxpayer dollars,” said Jon Hochkammer, director of insurance operations for the Wisconsin Counties Association (WCA), which provides corporate management services for the program. “With their extensive experience, I am confident they will continue to make the County Mutual a strong voice in the marketplace.”

The Wisconsin Counties Association, along with county officials from around the state, created the County Mutual in response to a crisis in the commercial insurance industry in 1985. In 1988, the County Mutual began operations with 24 owner counties. Today, it provides liability coverages to over 75 percent of counties in the state.

“This company has seen tremendous success in the industry and under the ongoing guidance of these officers and board, I believe the County Mutual will continue to see ongoing success through its strong risk prevention philosophy and proactive claims management,” said John Dirkse, executive vice president of Aegis Corporation, which administers the program.
