Aegis Corporation’s Jodi Traas Part of First Graduating Class to Receive School Safety Coordinators Certificate from WSSCA

Certification WIll Give Community Insurance Corporation Another Tool to Keep Schools Safe

Jodi Traas of Aegis Corporation will be presented with a Wisconsin School Safety Coordinators Association’s (WSSCA) “School Safety Coordinator Certificate” on Tuesday, March 9, 2010 at the WSSCA Annual Conference.

Jodi, a senior risk management consultant with Aegis Corporation, the general administrator of Community Insurance Corporation, is a member of the first class to receive the certificate.  It will be awarded by Tony Evers, Wisconsin State Superintendent of Public Education.

Jodi has been a WSSCA Board Member since 2003 and served as president in 2006.  She currently serves on the board as an advisor and instructor.  As a board member, Jodi has been closely involved with the creation of the School Safety Coordinator Certification Program.

“The motto of WSSCA clearly describes their goals and objectives ‘Education First-Safety Always!’ and this certificate program is another way that Jodi can work to ensure that safety remains a top priority in our schools,” said John Dirkse, executive vice president of Aegis Corporation.  “Community Insurance Corporation is dedicated to making sure our schools are a safe place to be for both students and faculty and Jodi’s certification is another tool to reach this goal.”

The School Safety Coordinator Certificate was developed to provide skills and knowledge for the school safety coordinator with comprehensive information designed to meet the standards as established under Wisconsin Executive Order 194 and PI 8.01(2)(i) of the Wisconsin Administrative Code.

WSSCA set out to establish an ambitious and comprehensive program to meet the needs of our schools and our changing society. As a result of several years of work by the WSSCA Board and through WSSCA’s work with several state agencies, a ten module Certificate for Wisconsin’s school safety coordinators has been established. The ten modules were designed to go beyond the basics of compliance required by the state, and instructs best practices to help prevent injuries and related costs.

Community Insurance Corporation is a subsidiary of the Wisconsin County Mutual Insurance Corporation (County Mutual) and offers general liability, automobile liability, public official errors and omissions or school board legal liability, and workers’ compensation to cities, towns, villages and school districts.
