Aegis Corporation has worked closely with the Lexipol Group (Lexipol) to build a partnership with the Wisconsin County Mutual Insurance Corporation (County Mutual). The County Mutual Board of Directors recently committed to fully funding the development of law enforcement and corrections policy and procedures manuals through Lexipol for member counties. The program also includes daily training bulletins provided by Lexipol.
“We are pleased to partner with Lexipol to make the 'Wisconsin Law Enforcement & Custody Policy Manual' services available to participating County Mutual members,” said John Dirkse, executive vice president of Aegis Corporation, which acts as the general administrator of the County Mutual. “Lexipol currently serves over 1,300 law enforcement agencies in 14 states, including Wisconsin and we look forward to working with them to provide this extremely valuable service to our members free of charge the first year.”
Benefits of the County Mutual/Lexipol program include:
• Coordinated Policy Development
• More Standardized Procedures
• Deputy Safety
• Streamlined, Daily Training Opportunities
• Strong Resistance to Legal Challenges (Good Defense)
“The County Mutual has always stood out because of our commitment to maintaining a close working partnership with member counties,” said County Mutual President and Oconto County Board Chair Lee Rymer. “By providing funding for the development of consistent policies, procedures and training, we are giving our member law enforcement and corrections staff the risk management tools they need to stay safe on the job, as well as maximize their resources.”
The County Mutual/Lexipol program will focus on law enforcement field operations and jail (custody) operations. The program's full funding covers the first year subscription for the policy manual implementation and the daily training bulletin service. The first phase will be the Law Enforcement Policy Manual with the Custody Policy Manual to be delivered in early 2013.
"Counties continue to face budgeting challenges and this program will be yet another value-added tool they will receive from the County Mutual," said Dirkse. "The Aegis loss control staff typically provide over 500 on-site risk management visits a year to member County Mutual counties and their law enforcement departments. With the unique and specialized services each of our law enforcement agencies provides, the Lexipol program will give these agencies access to uniform policies and procedures."
Lexipol provides customizable, state-specific, web-based policy manuals with an integrated training component to help law enforcement and custody facilities operate more efficiently and effectively. For more information, visit www.lexipol.com.
The County Mutual insures close to 75 percent of counties in the state for their liability and other insurance needs.
