June is National Safety Month; Aegis Works to Ensure Safety is a Top Priority

Started in 1996 by the National Safety Council, each year June is highlighted as “National Safety Month,” with the goal of spreading awareness of safety hazards and unintentional injuries both in the workplace and at home.
At Aegis, LLC, this goal is a top priority in June, as well as the other 11 months of the year, with their risk management team making over 500 on-site safety visits to county, school, and municipal members.
“Whether we are training our county and municipal highway employees on excavation and trenching or our schools on playground safety, our priority is always partnering with and empowering our clients to keep safety at the forefront of their daily tasks,” said John Dirkse, president of Aegis, LLC, a Charles Taylor Company. “From construction sites to classrooms, we know promoting personalized risk management efforts will aim to keep employees safer and ultimately, control claims costs.”
As the general administrator of the Wisconsin County Mutual Insurance Corporation (County Mutual) & Community Insurance Corporation (CIC), Aegis recently coordinated the 2023 Highway Safety Days and MSHA Part 46 Annual Refresher Training, which reached over 1,500 municipal and county employees in the month of May.
“Our employees are faced with hazards every single day, whether they are filling potholes next to speeding vehicles or using heavy equipment,” said Dirkse. “We are always grateful to highlight June as ‘National Safety Month’ and we remain steadfast in our commitment throughout the year to offer training that is timely and relevant that keeps our members getting home safely at the end of the day to their families.”
